Can this telescope shipped to Malaysia?

John Ace

http://www.celestron.com/c3/product.php?ProdID=429

AstroMaster 130EQ, and this telescope is for my young brother for his 15th birthday so I'm giving this scope as his gift. So, I wonder is this telescope can be shipped to Malaysia and how I'm going to pay it? PayPal, Debit Card or Credit Card. How long it takes to ship it to Malaysia? And if Celestron cannot ship this item to Malaysia, what any other online stores that offers shipment to Malaysia? Thanks in advance, and I relly need your help.

Answer
I went to www.telescopes.com web, added that telescope to the cart and went to checkout. On the checkout page there is international shipping to many countries, including Malaysia. You will have to give your exact address to find out how much shipping will cost, how payment can be made, and so on.

Las Vegas Gifts!?

cookiesss1

My dad is going to Las Vegas. He wants me to tell him what I want, but I have no idea what to get. Do you know anything authentic to Las Vegas that I should ask for?

Answer
A nice top or a hat. They sell just about anything with Las Vegas on it. They have some really nice tops or sweatshirts. A jacket is always nice. If you collect anything .. like bells or glasses or stuffed animals. How about something from the M&M Factory next to the MGM Grand. They have pretty neat things in there with the Vegas logo.

What's a cool and unique gift I could bring someone from Las Vegas?

BBH

I am from Las Vegas and I am going to visit a guy I met when I was working at NASCAR and he's from North Carolina. I want to bring him something cool and unique not just a typical Las Vegas souvenir like a key chain or magnet. Anyone got any creative ideas? Thank you !

Answer
You can find souvenir gambling chips at many places. For example, you could try Spinetti's Gaming Supply which sells all kinds of Las Vegas memorbilia, including gambling chips, card sets, table games and tons more.

http://www.spinettisgaming.com/retail-store/

Or you could try the Bonanza Gift Shop (the "World's Largest Gift Shop") on Sahara at Las Vegas Blvd. Most of it will probably be of the cheap/cheese souvenir merchandise, but you might be able to find something he will like.

Either place will have plenty of Las Vegas merchandise.

Does my brother deserve a christmas gift?

Maya C

I am 16 years old, my brother is 14. My brother has got a problem which is that he cannot have any feelings for others. He cannot show empathy. He doesn't live at home since my parents cannot handle him anymore. He gets to come home every second weekend however and now he will be home for two weeks over christmas.

My brother takes my money whenever he gets a possibility to do so therefore me and my family have to hide our money all the time so that he won't take it and by cigarettes, alcohol and drugs all the time. Although he has taken so much money from me lately so that I am almost broke.

Do you think that I should buy hum a gift for christmas anyway?
I am sorry I wasn't clear enough. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my parents, they are very nice though they are almost breaking apart due to the situation with my brother. My brother has like a handicap though you can't notice it since he is pretty smart or at least normal. He is currently living in a school where others with similar problems are living. I know that since he has a handicap I should consider that and be nice, however his handicap is that he cannot like other people obviously or at least he cannot appreciate them. Therefore I am not sure if it really would matter to him if I buy him a gift for christmas...

Answer
wow, tough question. it sounds like he's extremely selfish -- stealing money from his own sister -- but you still care enough to at least consider giving him a gift. kudos to you for being such a good sister!

to be honest, i don't know whether i would give him a gift or not. i would certainly feel guilty if i intentionally excluded him, but the truth is that he doesn't sound like the kindof person who appreciates gifts as expressions of love. he sounds more to me like the kindof person who feels his gifts are entitlements.

i wish i had a better answer for you, but there is no easy solution to this one. try to figure out how he would react if you got him a gift, versus how he would react if you did not. also try to figure out the emotional impact to you. ultimately, in a situation like this i suggest going with your intuition -- if your gut instinct tells you a solution is right, and it feels right, there is probably some reason it's right (something you have not observed on a conscious level).

i really hope this helps; good luck!

What is a gift experience site?

Why are gifted people such underachievers?

Vera Lynn

My teenager stepdaughter has been considered "gifted" since the 3rd grade. However, she doesn't even try to succeed in school and makes D's and F's on her report card and won't put out the least little bit of effort on anything. So I started talking to people with experience with gifted people and looking on the internet and found out that many gifted people have a problem being chronic underachievers. They do worse in school than kids with learning disabilities! And as adults they tend to sabotage every opportunity for success. Not to mention the problems they have with social skills (can't relate to "normal" people and getting frustrated) and horrific disorganization. So what I'm asking is there anyone out there with a gifted child who is exhibiting these problems and has any pointers on how I can help my stepdaughter to not totally self destruct! This gifted thing seems to be more of a curse than a blessing.

Answer
First of all, many children who are gifted find school so easy from the get-go, they never develop the organizational skills and work ethic, if you will, to be high achievers. I think this may be the most important reason that gifted people are often underachievers, not because they are gifted. Our public school system, and in fact many private schools, are unable to offer highly gifted kids the speed and depth of learning they can absorb. There are programs out there, but you have to search for them, they are rarely offered on a silver platter to a parent!

She's already a teenager, so her behavior patterns of low achievement are well established. Some serious intervention needs to be done to salvage her potential, in my estimation.

When I was in school, grading was on a curve. I remember it being great fun to see how low of a score I could get, and how little work I could do and still get A's and B's. I once got a B on a chemistry test that I only scored a 54% on because few people in the class did well on it! To this day, I tend to daydream and put things off and do them in a half-hearted manner and I'm middle-aged.

Here is a link to an article I just love that can explain this somewhat. http://www.stephanietolan.com/is_it_a_cheetah.htm. What it says is that if you don't allow the gifted child to perform at the high level they were designed to do, they will still be gifted, but may lose the ability over time to ever exhibit this characteristic to its fullest.

I knew two other gifted kids who started acting out early because they couldn't stand to have to keep doing hand-outs and spend time doing things they already knew. They, fortunately, had parents who understood this and addressed it. But I think of all the ones who's gifts and lack of correct placement in classes pretty much ruins who they might be.

The social skills are often because they feel different from the other kids they are with. My mom, who is highly gifted, never had friends. She felt like she was "from another planet" she thought so much differently than her peers. Being appropriately placed as well as highly supported and encouraged from their family does wonders for this. Suddenly they are with other kids who are just like them and their family understands what is happening in their head! What a wonderful thing! Also, I think introversion tends to be more common in highly gifted children.

I don't know how old your step-daughter is, but many states have talent searches that kids can participate in. The kids in this are offered "above level" testing; your step-daughter would probably take the ACT or SAT test. This identifies their current achievement level (she may surprise you on what she really knows) and can open doors for summer and other programs, for gifted kids if she scores high enough. If she has already been identified as gifted, and you don't think she's learned enough, because of her lack of attention in school to do well on the test, have her study for it, for crying out loud! There are books offered through each testing corporation that offer actual SAT and ACT tests to take as practice. It would be a shame to miss out on something she could learn with a little studying if she is truly gifted. She would be placed in an environment with other students like her and teachers who know how to teach gifted kids.

The problem could be related, as the other answerer said, to the divorce or death of one parent (I obviously don't know your circumstances). These major life changes can lead to depression and lack of enthusiasm as well as acting out to "punish" the remaining parent or new step-parent. This is just throwing out info since I don't know anything about your family other than what you have said.

I hope my long-winded response will help you. I have spent the last 14 years studying resources and articles, talking to people, driving my son to special advanced classes and am very passionate about appropriate education for gifted kids. My husband and I have a highly to profoundly gifted teenage son. We happened to be in a good school district where the administration was willing to work with us in part because we were willing to help out where they couldn't help us because of financial and time constraints. I urge you and your husband to follow up on this and be proud you have such a special human being as a child! The Hoagies site I have included in my sources is a comprehensive site and will have articles to help you if you spend some time looking through it. Please do this for your step-daughter and good luck!!!

xmas gift for dancer?

I have a cousin and idk what 2 get her for xmas. I was gonna get her something dance related, but shes currently out from injury so i didnt wanna make her miss it even more. she will b out for the next 5 months or so. She does everything but ballroom. shes 13. she likes 2 write...maybe that cud lead 2 somethin....? and i wanted something unusual to get for her 2, or anyone around that age whos a girl. help? thanks.
btw shes already got a ton of dance stuff, so something uncommon would be better if its dancey

thanks!!

Answer
Since she is a dancer and she injured, you should get her like a poster or something that reminds her what shes waiting for while she is injured. A good idea is tickets to see the nutcracker or ballets. Or since 2011 is coming up like a dance calendar. Another thing is to get her a poster of famous dancers. And since she likes to write you can get her a journal or notebook with a picture of a dancer on it. And my friend has this really cool ballerina pen. It would be really cool to get her that. I love love this one.. http://www.giftsforprofessionals.com/item/purple-charm-dancer-ballpoint-pen.

gifts for reader and gift bearers?

ttc #2

I am having trouble finding gifts for them. I do not want to spend a lot of money 10-15 dollars each. Anyone have any ideas? I would prefer not to get them chocolate but something more meaningful. Is a gift even necessary? Thanks.
gift bearers are people taking the food/wine up to the alter in church.

Answer
A gift is not necessary but it would be pretty rude not to give them a small token as acknowledgement. I don't know what a gift bearer is and I don't know them but I would think something small like an engraved compact, bookmark, picture frame that you can put a nice note in....

no jewelry as bridesmaid gift...?

.

I am not buying my bridesmaids jewelry as a gift. We all have such varying tastes in jewelry, so I just decided not to do it.

Should I tell them this? Is jewelry kind of expected? I feel like everyone always give jewelry.

Should I give them guidelines on what kind of jewelry to wear so they don't look sloppy, or not?
I am not buying them jewelry nor do i want them to have to buy anything new...
OK...my question is can I give them guidelines on jewelry to wear since I am not purchasing it? or is that rude?

Answer
You do not have to give jewelry... not at all!!!

You don't need to tell them either... it should be a surprise... get them something that really fits their personalities as individuals, and you know that they would really enjoy... it is meant to be a thank you to them for keeping you grounded, and supporting you through the whole wedding planning process, not a way to show how you spend $xxxx on them...

don't over think it... trust me! I spent weeks freaking out about not spending enough, or getting them something flashy enough, or what was expected...

The number one lesson I learnt through the whole wedding process, is that you do not have to do what is expected of you... for anything!!

A good source, for me at least, what the "kvetch" board at www.indiebride.com.

Good luck, and congratulations!

Hope this helps!

How can I make his bday gift 80's themed but not lame?

peachy

My guy is turning 29 soon, and I want to remind him that he's a child of the 80's, and not almost 30.

What can I give him that is practical, cool, and 80's-themed? I don't want to get him something he's not going to use, like a He-Man action figure. That would be silly.

We've been dating for two months, so nothing overboard, either.

Answer
it's difficult to make the 80's not seem lame. the reason we love the 80's is because they were so lame!

what exactly did he love from the 80s? Get him an A-team dvd or something. I bought my gf a cool staypuffed marshmallow man figure from Ghostbusters because she loved him in the movie and was real sad when they killed him.

You could find out what his favourite 80s shows or movies were (mines Goonies, before you ask) and get him something to do with that

Answer
I'm from a military town and I've been putting together care packages and gifts since 5th grade (so, almost 20 years!) When I went to college I got my sorority sisters involved and tons of places are very generous. Wal-Mart is pretty cool about letting you set up a donation station outside. We actually cut coupons and gave them out to people and asked them if they would buy specific things. We also encouraged people to hit the $5 DVD bins.

Recommendations for a guys gift on Valentine's Day?

Celeste

Me and my boyfriend have been dating for 8 months now since we graduated high school, and this is honestly my second Valentine since 8th grade. I don't want to spend a lot but I won't mind if it's a reasonable price. I just need an idea of what guys would like to get for this lovie-dovie day.

Answer
Usually guys don't think or expect much about Valentine's Day, and I can say from experience that rarely has a guy considered it lovie-dovie day. There's no need to do a big gift, and the real tradition is that he gives you a gift, not the other way around. Bake him some cookies or a treat of his favorite snack. The expression is, 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach' - use that as your cue.

What is a good gift for someone who likes League of Legends and Magic the Gathering?

mandiemorr

I'm part of reddits secret santa, and I'm kind of clueless about these games. I'd like to get them something really cool, but I'm lost. This is their self-description:

I like Video Games and Magic the Gathering. Not a huge fan of exercise or outdoor activity because of my asthma. Despite this, I only wear a Large size shirt, and that's because I am barrel chested, not fat. I play League of Legends mainly, as most other games run out of replay value compared to it. I enjoy fashion and being well dressed too.

Any suggestions?

Answer
If your budget isn't a problem then I would get them a return to ravnica booster box or fat pack. But if it is a problem then only get them just a few packs of it.

If someone posts pictures of a gift card they own on a public domain is it still legally theft to use?

Dirk

I was just curious what the legality of using a gift card that someone posts into a public domain (i.e reddit, imgur, photobucket)?

I know it's fraud to use someones credit card, and or checks.. Hence identity theft. But does that still apply to a gift card? Most gift cards say something like 'A gift for you' or something on the card, could this not imply it is for the person viewing the picture on the public domain?

It just seems to me to be synonymous with finding money in the city randomly.

Anyways it would be much appreciated if you could settle my friend and I's argument :)

Answer
Theft: depriving the owner of the use or benefit of the item.
So if you use the card number to purchase an item the real owner no longer can use the moeny on the card yu used. That is theft in my state.

Questions about amount paid for wedding gifts?(Ireland)?

email

My colleague(Friendly at work but not close friends) has invited my boyfriend and I to her full wedding. How much is one expected to put towards a wedding gift?
If in another country it would be handy to hear in your currency what you think and I can covert it ito euros. There is a gift register with gifts ranging from v little to expensive but I still wish to get a general idea of much to spend.

Answer
This is by no means a rule...but something to think about. It's probably going to cost the newlyweds at least $35 per guest to entertain you at the reception. You wouldn't want to be an expense to them right?
So I'd say at least $70
(My estimates are USD but you can make the correlation)

Good gift to bring my friends in Ireland?

Jonny the

I'll be taking a four day holiday next month in Ireland. I have some dear friends that I will be visiting and want to know, what would be a fine gift to bring?

I want to bring some spirits. Are there any American liquors that are popular over here which I could bring?

Any suggestion is welcome, however, please don't say Marlboro's; I always bring as many smokes as customs will allow

Answer
Jack Daniels is the only American liquor I can think of that is also popular over here in Ireland.

Does the gift have to be alcohol though? I mean why not bring them a sack of potatoes if you want to play on stereotypes!

Why don't you bring them some Hersey's chocolate or some of those Jelly Belly jellybeans?! A basket of cookies or something like that...

housewarming gift for parents?

Dude, your

My family and I are moving soon and since Christmas is right around the corner i was thinking about getting my parents a housewarming gift for our new place. We haven't moved in yet so there isn't much i can say about the place but it's pretty standard. I don't have that much to spend but if i could get some good gift ideas that would be great. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

Answer
That's very sweet and I'm sure your parents will love any gift from you. I think a "Home Sweet Home" Christmas ornament maybe with the year on it would be a nice idea...something they could keep forever and always remember the first Christmas in their new house.

Nice gift for parents?

Matt

I would like to buy a nice gift for my parents. Looking at the $100-$400 range.

Any ideas?

Answer
I'd have more suggestions if I knew your parents and their interests...

One year I went to a professional photographer on my own (secretly) and had a portrait photograph done of me in a really nice outfit. Then I purchased a 8 x 10 and framed it for them and got some smaller prints, including wallet sized copies.

It was a very special gift that they really appreciated, especially since they didn't have any recent photos.

Another year I came up with an idea I did several times. My parents had some really nice fine china from Germany, and had lost a few pieces. It was no longer easy to find. I searched till I found a place to buy some from, and bought them some pieces to fill out their set. I did this several times till they were back to having a full set of 12 of all pieces. This worked because they had and cherished their fine china. If your parents don't have fine china, this obviously won't work.

Another neat gift would be to take them out one night to a fancy restaurant for supper, and have a photographer come take a family photo of you all.

If they don't treat themselves to special things, finding something special to treat them to is really wonderful. But it takes really knowing them and what they'd love but won't treat themselves to.

You could buy a favorite food like lamb or lobster, etc. and cook them a really super special meal, and serve them a candlelight meal so neither of them would have to cook or clean up, and maybe get a CD of some romantic music to play as they dine. This works if you're a good cook.

As you may have noticed, I like to use a personal touch to make a gift special. The nicest gift is a gift of yourself, through making something or creating something special by your thoughtfulness.

Other ideas given to you that were GREAT include:
========================================
The digital photo frame... but ONLY get the LARGEST ONE... I think the largest I've seen was about 11" x 15" - then get the right media and put a bunch of special photos on it for them and have it loaded already with really special photos... I saw a lovely large frame last week at Sam's Club. You have to have a neighbor take you shopping for that one... so they don't catch you.

A GPS with a mapping or topo map program are really neat -IF- they travel a lot, or like tech things. A really great recent one is DeLorme Topo 7 with their NEW PN-20 GPS. And it's just within your price range.

Any christmas gift suggestions for mum?

Isabella

so Christmas is coming and i don't know what to get mum. normally i don't get her anything but idk i feel more responsible as i'm growing older so.. i'm 15 and i don't know what to get her.. she likes to have fun ,and likes to laugh. i was thinking in nothing too expensive.. maybe something like â¬100-200... any suggestions??

Answer
I'm looking at your price range and thinking that's about $150 - $300 Canadian and that's very generous, but I don't know what things cost in the UK.

You don't mention your mother's age, but because you are 15, you will have a sense for what styles are in and what your mother likes to wear (and perhaps her size), so I would suggest a nice sweater, a blouse or an outfit in a style she would like. A trendy purse, stylish shoes...some jewelry--perhaps a family ring if she doesn't have one.

Everyone needs to go to the hairdresser, so give her a gift certificate for something she needs: a shampoo and haircut, styling, treatment, perm, etc... or a manicure/pedicure or massage as a special treat

You mention that she likes to have fun and to laugh, but what does she enjoy doing? Would she like to spend a night out at a comedy club, a movie, a play, a concert...? Or maybe she would like to have a movie night at home with a movie on DVD or cassette, some popcorn and pretzels, a warm blanket, warm slippers and some hot chocolate, and her whole family around her.

It's great that you want to spend money on your mother's gift, but there are also gifts that don't cost a thing. You could add to her gift by giving her some coupons you print on your computer for special things like offering to do the housework, laundry, cook a meal, snow shovelling, lawn mowing or gardening. If you have younger siblings you could provide the babysitting so your mother (and father?) could have a night out. You could give her a manicure and/or pedicure yourself.

Hope this is helpful.

Good Christmas gifts for Mum and Dad?

Emmmm

Within a reasonable price range of course :)

Answer
You could get your mum a gift set at bath and body works, or candles. Maybe a giftcard to her favourite coffee place (or anywhere else she likes), or some cozy slippers or a bath robe? Bath bubbles, a pedicure set, a foot massager, or a really good book. CDs or DVDs. These ideas could probably all work.

As for dad, maybe a gift card, a mug, a baseball hat, a jersey of his favourite sports team, a CD of his favourite band, a toolbox or a razor, or if you're feeling brave, cologne. Maybe even one of those mega remotes, or a cover for his car when it snows, a new wallet, a photo album, a GPS system.

Hope I helped & Merry Christmas. â¥

What 's a great wedding gift for under $50? under $100?

Heart of F

Modbride...that might be true, unless you've know them for a long time in which case you know what their tastes gravitate toward----like a family member

Answer
modbride, speak for yourself - that isn't true for the majority. a gift that shows someone has taken the time and effort to buy something meaningful is the best gift. cash? in our circle its something someone throws in an envelope 'cause they can't be bothered to shop.

now in answer to your query, my mum and dad say, and i happen to agree, the best gift they give is a young tree. whether it be a lilac, a sycamore, a maple, a weeping willow, it is something that the happy couple will watch mature and grow as they do.
for condo owners the folks often purchase smaller trees, and shrubs. roses, azaleas, that kind of thing.
and the gift can fit any budget! whether its fifty, a hundred, or five hundred dollars!

No birthday gift = no christmas gift. Is it fair?

deetrosa

My boyfriend of 2 years did not get me a birthday present this year (it was in September). I asked for a horseback riding trip that ended for the year about a week after my birthday. He said he would take care of booking it....but just didn't. And I never got anything to replace it.

So I am not planning on getting him a christmas gift this year, even though he already said he got me one. I know it sounds petty, but I have no desire to be the bigger person; I want him to feel how I felt.

Curious to know what others would do in my position

Answer
Gift giving should never be a "tit-for-tat" thing. You give because you WANT to give.

But it is only a human thing to fall into doing so. I have had BF's who simply do not give gifts, and I have stopped giving them gifts. You are desiring revenge, and it is never a good motive, nor building block for a good relationship. If this is part of it, then my suggestion is to start considering getting rid of the jerk.

And in that case, NOT giving any gifts to him would be a normal part of a NON-relationship.

Have a polite day.

christmas gift giving, it is right?

mature me

it is right to still include my ex in my gift giving list? i always make sure that all my children have gifts this coming christmas. I used to include my ex before since i was not involved with anyone else. but now that i got married, am wondering if it still right to give gift to the ex? will it be a problem and will you feel hurt if you are the current spouse?

Answer
does the gift say from you and the kids or just you?

Your remarried so really, you shouldnt give your ex a gift... unless you do it because you know if you dont he gets basically zilch. You could speak to your current husband about it.... if your married I suspect he has been in your life since last christmas... what did you do then? have you been hiding it from your current?

It really all depends on your motive for giving the ex a gift. If its a genuine platonic gift giving thing because you feel he doesnt get much, thats probably okay.... but if you still have feelings for him (he is the father of your children and you did love him at one time) then no, you shouldnt be giving him gifts if your remarried, thats not a nice thing to do to current husband.

If it were me... I would not be buying him gifts from me... I would do it in the name of the kids... and let them pick the presents out as well.... he is their dad... and regardless of how you both feel about one another now, you were in love at one time, you made a family... we cant pretend these things didnt happen.... for the kids we have to remain civilized and respectful of one another....

If it means that much to you and you want it for a Birthday gift, then just email "him" with an attachment to the site and ask for it. The worst he could say is "NO"!!!

It does sound a bit pricey. Make sure it is a legitimate site and not a scam, ok !!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

i looking for a good inexpensive gift for my boyfriends birthday. any ideas?

Snookums L

he's turning 19 years old and i want something inexpensive nothing outrageous but in a $50 minimum
oh im sorry i meant $50 maximum

Answer
Ok, here's what I'm doing tomorrow for my fiance's birthday. I'm 28, he's 33:

I bought silk rose petals from Ebay, which was quite cheap. I also bought aromatic candles and some of those underwear that make elderly church-goers blush. I'm planning to spread the petals from the hallway up to the lounge (we have this fluffy white carpet which I love), candles lit right between the petals, a champaign standing by and me in the middle.

If you prefer a 'real' gift, you could possibly get him ex. a special dvd/cd box of his favourite band with additional material, a perfume (although that's kind of typical and predictable), a wallet, an old Polaroid camera, a two-day train ticket to somewhere close he may like or a special event. Remember also that the best gift is a personal gift, meaning something of his personal taste, not necessarily personal nature. Try to think of his tastes in music/sports/film. A photographic album of a favourite actor/actress or a framed picture of his favourite team being awarded a Cup? All these can be found on the internet as well.

Hope this helped a bit.

PS. If you are below 18 please ignore the first suggestion!

Romantic Xmas Gift Idea?

WeezyBoy

Backround Info:

I am 18, so is my girlfriend who i have dated the past 2 years. We hang out quiet a bit, were typical 18 year olds, we go out n party, have sex all that fun stuff but besides from watching movies and hanging out together at our places we dont get out and do different stuff so much

So for my idea for christmas i want to make a calander.. then come up with 52 ideas/gfts on stickers and have her pick them out 1 by 1 and whatever she pulls is what we do that week... I figure it will spice things up and every week we will have something different going on.. My main problem is - 1. I am on a budget and 2. I cant think of 52 different things to do.

I live in Upstate New York so it is seasonal, so i was thinking id have her draw from 4 sept "bags" or whatever to keep her from pulling something we cant do because of weather..

I would like to do 1 "bigger" thing each month and 3 smaller things, basically what ive come up with so far is Restraunt Gift Cards/Out to dinner, Ice skating, Bowling,Motel gift card and have a little sex basket, "Massage Night" but instead of going out make a basket full of oils/candles, etc, and NYC trip (can b expensive).

I am on a budget but how i see it is some of it i can just make little "coupons" so i can pay for them later... but i would like things for her to open as well so im looking for more ideas and even ideas that i could have gifts to go along with..

let me know what ya think of the idea and give me some help, Thanks

Answer
pick different positions for sex or games or types of sex that night or week or maybe pick differnet roleplays everyone likes a good game and an 18 year old might like that make the sex fun!

homemade xmas gifts?

i need to make a gift for a 15 year old girl and i dont know wut to make?

she loves things that are

elegent
romantic
black mysterious (but not goth) like pretty
and victorian

what could i make for her

and i cant sew or croche
but make the gift have nothing to do with christmas lol
o and she loves dance she is constanly taking pointe, ballet, or jazz or modern dance classes

Answer
a charm bracelet or a necklace with a locket. you can buy lots of little charms and beads and just string them together to make a very special piece designed just for her.

other nice things to make are picture frames--add feathers, lace and special items that she'd like.

you could make her hair clips, just glue some fabric flowers (or gemstones or lace...) to some barrettes.

how about taking an altoid tin and decorating it with some cute but dark pictures.. and add some lace around the edge.

dried roses are very elegant, romantic and dark and mysterious. especially if you find dark red or black. you could dry them (i believe you just set them in a cornstartch for a few weeks) and then arrange them in a pretty vase. you could even decorate the vase too. it is a bouquet that lasts forever.

just go to your local craft/hobby store and wander the aisles. im sure youll find something interesting to give you some ideas.

Gift for boys under $50?

judson

Hi,
I need help. I have grandsons 12 and 14. One has a mp3 player. What is out there that all the kids like, something I can afford? I'd like to spend no more than $45. Is there a popular trend right now? Thanks.
I'm afraid Happy is right. They would rather have cash or gift cards. Was just hoping that there might be something a bit more wrapable. Thanks all. judson

Answer
Not really anything you can get for under 50 but something that I think is a good idea is a giftcard. I would get them a movie giftcard. Kids are always going to the movies. They dont tend to have jobs at that age so it would be nice if when they went to the movies they dont have to ask for money instead they can just use their card. The cards are good for the consestion bar too.

Any good mother's day gift idea under 50$?

Answer
Gift card for a manicure

Make a laminated (or non-laminated) bookmark: find pictures of the two of you or pictures she would like out of a magazine or inspiring words- it can be a few small pics or just one. Cut the construction paper to the size you want and start gluing the pictures on, then take it to Staples/Office Max, Office Depot or a store like that and get it laminated, then cut it. After hole-punch the top and put a ribbon or twine of some kind through the hole and tie it in a knot. You can even skip laminating it.

Make a 'love jar' and fill it with origami hearts, flowers and slips of paper with notes of appreciation written on them or 'I love you' written in different languages (on the back write which language it is).

Opinions and etiquette on re-gifting holiday gifts?

grasshoppe

Have you ever given someone else a holiday gift that was previously given to you? What guidelines are acceptable for doing so? I have received gift-certificates for stores that I never shop at and have given those away as Christmas presents. What are your personal opinions on this?

Answer
Hey, they were given to you as GIFTS, which means you can use them however you want. If, instead of using the card for yourself (at a store you never frequent), you decide to give it to someone who can use it, that's your perogative. Usually with gift cards, the intent of the giver is for you to get something you want or can use...if you can use those cards to spend less money during the holidays by re-gifting them, then you ARE using the gift how you want to (no different than if the original gift giver gave you cash). I see nothing wrong with it at all! Same thing btw for other gifts that would otherwise sit in a closet...if you know someone who would appreciate and use the item vs. leaving it sit in a closet, then by all means, re-gift it!! It is yours to give! Merry Christmas!

Bridal shower gift vs. wedding gift?

Stephanie

What is the proper etiquette for buying gifts for bridal showers and weddings? Like, if i go to a bridal shower and buy the couple a gift should i buy the same couple a gift for their wedding. I'm just not sure if they are expecting two gifts for the same occasion, well it's basically the same occasion... Anyways, i'm just wondering what to do.

Answer
Unfortunately, the wedding gift giving just does not stop, one is now expected for every event. Engagement parties, bachelorette parties, now a present is expected for them, too. And you are right, it is all for the same occasion. If it were me, and and knowing people are splitting their budget between four or 5 gifts, I would yell stop! And tell those that are close to me to cool it, one or two, that is enough. Or get me something that costs next to no money, like a collection of tried and true recipes. And I would want artisan gifts, I got a towel for Xmas with a crochet border on it, you hang it up in the kitchen for pretty or handy purposes. I love it.

Traditionally, if the shower is for the bride, the present is for the bride. The gift used to be something to decorate or stock up her household, something that only she would use. Occasionally, it would be something just for the bride, like her favorite perfume, or a basket with soaps and bubble baths. Since the bride did not have a household of her own, gift giving was easy. The gifts might have been hand crafted, or artistic, or creative, but were never expensive. That would have been rude, you did not show up at the shower with a Cuisinart, when everybody else gave artisan gifts..

Now fast forward to 2010, there are couples showers, where a present is expected for both the bride and groom. Or the bride wants a lingerie shower. Or she already has a household, and only luxury items are on her/their registry list. And brides and grooms expect presents of the caliber of the wedding present. And brides do not want hand made artisan things.

So to answer your question, since the bride opens her shower presents at the shower, a present is expected, and will be noticed by everyone if one is not offered. And yes, a wedding present is expected too. Figure out your budget, and split it up between the presents.

Sneaky trick: some people spend the lion's share or all of the budget on the shower present, where people are there to ohh and ahh over it. And give the lesser gift, or no gift at all for the wedding, when maybe only the bride will see it.

What are some jobs working with gifted children?

pkbellefim

I was interested in trying to work with or teach gifted children. I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm trying to figure out a career. Would this be a terrible idea?

Answer
Most jobs are in the teaching sector. Teaching gifted children is definitely fun, but they also can have behavior issues related to being gifted. However, given decent classroom management and an intriguing curriculum, you shouldn't have a problem.

Gifted children also participate in a Odyssey of the Mind, an international competition and learning program. You could also get a job with them because they are nationwide. Also, go to the National Association for Gifted Children website as well as the National Society for the Gifted and Talented to find out more about the field.

Your very best bet for working with these children is to get a K-12 teaching credential in your state and then as you get closer to graduation, begin to work on a gifted credential. I say this because almost all teaching jobs these days, even special education, require teachers to be "highly qualified," which means you have to be able to teach reading, written language and math and you must pass a state test to prove it. By getting this out of the way, you are then pretty prepared to teach anything you might want, including gifted.

Thank you gift for new job?

Alik Abli

A teacher from college invited me to join him on a new job in a company where he works at. He helped me out to fix my resume, he told me everything about the interview like what to say and stuff. Now I got the job because all his help.
He is my boss now and I want to say thanks with a gift or something.

Now that I received my first check...Is it correct if I buy him a gift as appreciation and gratitude?

Thanks for all your comments

Answer
Because he's the boss, giving a gift could violate company rules and could get your benefactor in trouble.

I strongly suggest you take him to lunch as a thank you.
If you don't have enough time during the work day, make arrangements for drinks after work or a lunch on Saturday.
I'd avoid dinner because that can be considered too personal (like a date).

At the very least (and this is a MUST), send him a personal thank you note for his good will and assistance.

under $10 for an unisex gift?

John D

Hi everyone,

Me and my gf are going to a Christmas party were we have to bring two gifts that are fit for a man or women and that is under $10.

It's a dirty santa (chinese gift exchange) type of deal where you pick from the pile and then the next person can either steal or pick from the pile.

The group of guest is quite varied (man in their late 30s, woman in the late 30s, few over 50s...)

Suggestions???? Alcohol is allowed but it seems cheesy.

Answer
Alcohol is DEFINITELY not cheezy. Trust me. I have been involved in many many of these kind of gift swapping parties. Wine is ALWAYS the hard to keep once chosen gift. I pride myself in finding inexpensive wines that are under priced. I would suggest 3 bottles of Forestville cab.
$3 a bottle at most chain grocery stores like Safeway. Your gift will be one of the sought after gifts.
