Good gift ideas for Mom & Dad?

Sproc

'Tis the time for trying to think up gift ideas. I'm trying to think of what to get my mom and dad, and I'm really stumped.

My dad is the stereotypical guy, likes the outdoors, sports (baseball and football especially), tools, etc. Because of this, he already has plenty of screwdrivers, hammers, etc, etc, etc, and I'd like to get him something he'd use, but something he doesn't have already.

My mom always gives the corny answers of happiness, love, family, etc., but she never gives me any good ideas of what I can actually buy her. She's an elementary school teacher, likes to read (though she hasn't had a ton of time to read lately), and likes to cook. Both my parents like to cook actually (my dad's a big griller).

So any ideas? I'd like to keep up below $50. Many thanks, and happy holidays.

Answer
I made a list for christmas gifts here: http://www.squidoo.com/gifts-for-dad-and-granddad I personally think a gift that might be suited for all is a subscription to netflix or hulu plus. Or maybe gelled ice cubes? I love those. Anyways good luck and I'm sure you will find something!

Need help with christmas list?

Alannah H

I'm making my christmas list but I'm not sure what to put on there. I'm 13, I already have an iPhone 4S and I'm getting my upgrade next year, so not a phone. And it can't be a pet because I already have two puppies, I'm very girly, and my favorite color is pink. There is no price limit so suggest anything!

Answer
christmas is about being with family not what you can get. But that doesn't mean people don't like the gifts and of course we don't want a pair of socks lol. I would suggest things you really like, not what can I get, but what you really would like for the year. Do some soul searching.

I can give you some ideas on how to go about it. such as....

maybe something new for your room, a new lamp, or blankets, maybe a statue of something you're really into. Give you something new and fresh for the new year. IF you like to read, some kids do think of what books you like to read for the year.

maybe you like to add some new cool jewelry for the year or a new kind of outfit or wardrobe for 2013. if you're allowed to wear makeup add that to your list. I do and I never have to get makeup or nail polish throughout the year. saves me loads of money, that now can be used for something else.

there is always gift cards as well, it's great to have money for something you see later in the year that you really want but don't have the money for.

New jacket, gloves, hat, scarf. always makes me feel great after christmas to show off my new winter stuff.

Do you need a new bike, skates,

how about cd's new stuff has came out this year. A lot of new bands old bands making new cd's.
do you like to draw, maybe some art stuff, or an easel.

Think about what could I use this year, what do I like to add or have for this year. It can be anything from your room to your hair, clothes, to your hobbies, outdoor activities, to something you really want.

birthday gifts ideas..?

BLAH

i have a problem right now... i have 2 birthdays in aug which i need to get gifts for. one girl is a close friend and i dont know what to get her for her 17th birthday. the second is this girl i want to be with who is also turning 17. i want to give her something that will make her truly understand how much i care about her. i have done those cheesy ideas in the past and i want some new ideas. also it has to be in my price range which is 40-60. since im asking strangers for help, you can see how desperate i am at this point. thank you in advance.

Answer
First, If you want to show someone you care about them; you have to get them something you hold dear to yourself. If you truly cherish what you give her, she will see it in your eyes. I can't elaborate on what you hold dear to youself, but if it truly means something to you, the price most likely won't be a factor. As for your other freind, jewlery (if thats how you spell that :{ ) is a good gift. Maybe a necklace with her name on it. Or possibly a wrist braclet. I hope that helps.

I am throwing a birthday party for my 9 year old daughter. Is it ok to ask everyone not to bring gifts?

Cas

I know that some kids might not have much money. Is it okay to ask them not to bring gifts? Should I not say anything and let them bring gifts if they want. We are very accepting of other people's generosity but do not want to make kids feel obligated.

Answer
Another way to go is to ask kids each to bring a gently used book to trade. Ask them to wrap it and let the kids each choose one to take home.. This lets all the kids get something, and nobody has to spend a lot of money. Also, you 9-yr-old gets more than enough gifts from you and grandparents right, so why get a bunch more gifts........These people who are worried about your child getting gifts obviously don't have children, or are children, or they have a maid that cleans the mess of toys up in the kids room everyday. :)

what is a recommended birthday gift for a 9 year old girl?

chikw

Answer
It depends on the price range. You can get some Barbie clothes, five outfits for about ten dollars. You could get a Barbie for about twenty dollars for a nice one. A diary with a lock is a great gift for a 9 year old. A little privacy is perfect for her. You could get something for a Nintendo DS or a membership with Gamefly, it allows you to rent games on the DS or any system and only costs about 20 a month. Clothing is popular at that age as are shoes or boots (my daughter loves black boots). Any Barbie Accessories, books for that age level if they are into books, Art items, paints and such are VERY well liked by that age. I got my son a kit from Target with paints, easel and everything for twenty dollars. I am sure i could come up with more but I would need to think about it.

Have you seen any department stores running a Lancome free gift with purchase?

craftswami

My friends birthday is this weekend. I wanted to buy her some Lancome...but we all know that the best time to buy is when they are offering a gift with purchase. I've googled, but am only coming up with dead-end leads.

Or...does anyone know their free gift schedule? I could get her a gift card and then give her a heads up on when the promo will be.

Thanks you guys!

Answer
you could try debenhams, john lewis & boots they normally have offers like that on hope this helps x

Any ideas of where I should get my wedding gift list from?

Q. I'm thinking Argos at the moment.

Debenhams or John Lewis don't appeal to me...
I'm from England, UK

Answer
It would be most helpful if you put your location. Many stores are not international, I'm in the US and have not heard of the stores you are referring to.

Ok, well this may not be specific to those stores but I hope it's helpful:

You should choose the stores that:
A. have things that you and your fiance love, from kitchen electrics to china to sheets and towels
and
B. have a nice range of prices so that people who want to buy from your list/registry can all get you something within their own budget.

Congratulations!

how do I send a gift to the UK?

Kevin

ok i want to send something to a friend of mine that moved to the UK? how do i do that??

Answer
You make sure that the gift is something that is allowed into the UK. You package the gift so that it is secure during transportation. You address it with your return address as well ,and then you take it to the post office where they will weight it. You decide if you want it to go airmail or surface mail. You then fill in the customs form, pay the required amount and leave it with the post office to deal with it from then on...

Would my child be consider a gifted child? UK?

Me

Okay I asked a question earlier, and I guess I didn't give the right information.

We have a son, who just turned 2 a week ago.
For about 3-4 months now he has learned...
all his colors
his numbers
most of his ABC's
can read about 3 dozen words (and learning more each week)
can do simple math
knows his shapes

On a non educational level..
he knows how to dial the telephone and use it (house and cell phone)
play (with more skill than my teenagers lol) the Wii an play station (including how to put the disk in, turn it on an load the game, switch between users etc)
basic computer skills, such as opening a web browser an clicking on his saved pages and turning the pc on an off.
use a TV remote, to scroll through his programs saved on the DVR an select which one he wants to watch

This is not by any means an all inclusive list of his abilities. I am just curious if he would be considered gifted in England? I know in the states he is.

We are just concerned with his ability to learn at a frightening pace and memory retention ability (which is somewhat unreal) , that he is going to be bored in school. We already have to find numerous different ways to keep him stimulated and learning. He learns VERY quickly an gets bored.
For instance in one bus ride of less than 15 minutes, he learned all his shapes. Now if you try to sit with him to go over them, he will tell you what they are once, then refuses to do so again and we have to move on to something new. As soon as he has mastered something we have to find a new way to challenge him.

Is home schooling allowed in England? I am just trying to figure our options out. Or if he is just "normal" for English children, then I guess we don't need to be thinking ahead.

Answer
He certainly sounds like a bright little boy. Do you have more than one child? I'll swear I answered a question from you the other day but I thought it was about a child who was much closer to school age.

He won't be bored in school at least to start with because what he'll be learning is how to interact with a group, how to cope when he has to share the adult in charge with 15 or so other kids, how to take turns or play on a team in PE, and so on. Reception is pretty much about life skills rather than reading and writing. They do do that as well, but they'll be at a wide range of different levels. It's later on, when the whole class is learning the idea of "subtraction" and yours understood it at 3, that he'll be bored.

We don't really make a big fuss of "gifted" here. (Which I'm not at all saying is a good thing). If you are expecting professional educators to gush over how amazing your son is, it isn't going to happen.

However, bright young kids _do_ have an astonishing memory retention ability compared to adults. Don't be writing to the Guinness Book of Records yet :) He's very likely to have a more "normal" memory as he gets older and simply _has_ to remember a wide range of things about different subjects. Right now, all he has to remember is a few fun facts. You'd find it easy too...except that your memory is all filled up with when you have to make dinner and if the car needs petrol and hanging the washing out and filling in that form...

My opinion? Regardless of how academically gifted he is, you need to let him be "normal". He needs to go to playgroup and fingerpaint. He needs to dig in the sand. He needs to sing tunelessly and dress up as a pirate. He needs to be an ordinary toddler. He needs to play with friends (or at least acquaintances). Even if he'd rather be doing maths worksheets. (And I say that as mum to a child who would absolutely have rather spent his life doing maths worksheets and whose idea of a perfect early childhood day would have contained zero interaction with other kids).

Cross the bridge of whether he's bored at school when he actually gets there. We don't have the concept of passing or failing a year - if he goes to primary school for a term and it isn't right, you can pull him out, ring up your local academic private school and see if they'll look at him, start homeschooling, whatever. But please don't wrap him in cotton wool as this special little snowflake who can't possibly enjoy the things other kids do. You won't be doing him any favours at all.

are there any etiquettes in corporate gifting?

sandra dc

Answer
Yes, there are many, many rules of etiquette which apply to gifting in business situations. Hundreds of books have been written to explain such rules, which depend on many factors.

Many countires and corporations have very strict policies regarding their employees' giving and/or accepting gifts. To avoid creating a problem, it’s imperative to know and comply with applicable laws and policies.

(1) Country: in many countries, gifts upon the initial meeting are expected, and in other countries such gifts would be considered offensive and even a criminal act (a bribe).

Companies in countries like Paraguay frown upon most such gifts, since that could be construed as bribes. In Malaysia, such gifts are inappropriate among business colleagues, until they have established a friedly relationship. In Singapore, government employees are not allowed to accept any gifts. In the U.S., the value of such gifts (to be tax deductable) is limited to $25.

On the other hand, in countries like Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, exchanging such gifts is strongly rooted in tradition.

(2) Occasion: in many situations and in many countries and/or cultures, gifts are expected on certain occasions, such as weddings, births and even deaths!

(3) Religious Rules: In all cases, one must be cognizant of religious laws and customs when selecting gifts.

For example, a gift made of pigskin is inappropriate for a Jewish and Muslim recipient, and a gift of cowhide is inappropriate for an Indian recipient. A bottle of wine (alcohol) would be inappropriate for a Muslim or Mormon.

(4) Sexual Mores. In virtually all countries and occasions, one must be cognizant of sexual mores and innuendo. For example, one would never give intimate apparel to a colleague.

(5) Corporate Identity. A gift with a prominent company logo is almost never appropriate, and even one with a discreet logo is never appropriate in Greece, Spain and Portugal.

(6) Presentation. Even if a gift is appropriate, there are often very detailed rules of etiqueet on how the gift is presented. For example, it is very important in Asia and the Middle East to only use your right hand, or both hands, to offer or accept a gift, while, in Japan and Hong Kong, one always uses both hands.

In Singapore, a recipient will “graciously refuse three times” before accepting your gift. Other rules apply in different places and circumstances that relate to whether the gift should be wrapped, whether the gift should be opened immediately, and how the recipient should react upon receipt of the gift.

There are even rules applicable to how one offers one's hand for a hand-shake and how one exchanges business cards.

Many of these business gift rules of etiquette have analogies in social settings, but, as noted above, many do not.

We've provided a few links below for detailed information, and there are many additional sites available by Googling.

Please re-post with more specific details, and we shall provide further information.

Hope this helps.

6 month anniversary gift?

somsom120

i bought customized sweaters that say i love my boyfriend, i love my girlfriend for me and my boyfriend.
But i recently just found out that hes spending $200, and well mine only cost like $60...

We're already going to dinner, but what else should i get him? i've already made him c.ds for previously months, i've already wrote letters.

Answer
If you think of presents as price, your relationship is going nowhere. $200 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend, thats not even sweet.. to me, that just shows hes uncomfortable with actually picking something for you. for our 5th month-versary, i got him a dinosaur card that said '5' on it with a dinosaur badge because he loves dinosaurs. for when i came back from holiday, hed written me a piano composition. for christmas last year, wed had a big argument so i skipped school and spent all my money on a beatles songbook because he loves the beatles.. its not the money you spend, its the thought you put behind it.otherwise people just become shallow, materialistic people. youre celebrating spending time together, not who can spend the most money. its not a competition.
btw, $60 for sweaters is a bit of a rip-off.. a quick internet search'd find you 'his and hers' sweaters for under $30.
our last monthy versary was our 10th and we celebrated by spending time together and i made him a card :)
also-him telling you hes spending $200 is not on. i would seriously have a chat with him. pretty sure hes trying to prove he loves you more because hes spending more money.

edit: also isnt it going to be really awkward when exchanging gifts?? you wont be like 'i got you this' 'aww you did this for me?' 'yeah it took me ages' '<3' '<3', youll be like 'i got you this, it cost $100' 'igot you this it cost $200' 'huh' '...'
maybe a slight exaggeration but still. you get my jist, yeah?

My boyfriends birthday is coming up and I'm trying to think of something real creative to buy him. Something he wouldn't think of.

- No sporting event tickets.
- No picnics or movies.
- No home cooked dinner.
- No electronics or anything like that,

He's a complicated boy.

He wanted a nice ring, but I'm not going to pay that kind of money, so I need something else!

Please give me some ideas.

I need birthday Gift Ideas!?

My BF's B-day is around the corner. He's horrible to shop for - has no real hobbies, and buys himself whatever he wants. He's become obsessed with True blood so I bought him a coffee mug and Tee - but that's all. Does anyone have any ideas for an awesome gift that'll blow him away?

Answer
A gift card to a store he likes, a silver chain, watch, or id bracelet if he wears jewelry, a shirt from a store he likes, tickets to a concert by his favorite performer, tickets to a sports game, cook him dinner. Or, you can make him a small gift basket. Include the shirt and mug you got him, then also add his favorite kinds of candy, an engraved zippo if he smokes, some scratch off tickets, a movie he likes but doesn't own, bake his favorite kind of cookies, new boxers, and a coupon book of things you're willing to do for him (wash his car, give him a back massage, sexual favors etc.) Another option is to make him a fleece blanket with a solid color on one side and a print on the other. Include a card and maybe a birthday cake an you're good to go.

Which sign has given u the most expensive gift ..?

Srivy

..which is the most generous sign in the zodiac?
Shoot for the moon, i knew there would be some cheapos out here who would take the question in the wrong sense!

I understand that generosity can come cheap, like love. giving lots of love doesnt cost anything. I was just curious as to which sign has given u an expensive gift. Yeah, it requires a very broad mind and good heart and money to give expensive gifts to someone, all the while knowing that the recipient might or might not return them with an equally good gift!
Dontansky, im not a dumb a**. U can choose to not answer instead of calling names. U always have a choice. I refuse to answer questions i dont like.
This is for fun....sorry to those who are offended or afraid to answer.

Answer
Leo gives the most expensive gift hands down!!! Leo is also the most generous of all the sign. Sure there are other signs that are very generous, but Leo is this way naturally all the time. Leo's don't mind helping anyone. Just don't cross them because you can become an enemy for life! I have tons of Leo's in my family and my man is a Leo. Their all the most generous in the family, and my man gives the most expensive gifts he can give. Sometimes I think why does he spend so much money? But, he says that he wants to give me the best. But, know that a Leo will give you the world and buy you expensive things only if the truly love you. It doesn't even have to be in a love relationship with a Leo. It could be a Leo parent, relative, or friend. If they love you and there are no qualms between you and that Leo then all is good. I like Leo's a lot. I get along with them great. I can handle their strong personalities and egos. Their dramatic, but hey what would this world be like without it! I'm a Sagittarius which is a fire sign like Leo, and Aries so I guess that's why I can get along with both these signs pretty well. As a Sagittarian I'm very generous when I have the means to help someone. I genuinely want to make people happy. But, I think Leo's have me beat!

P.S
Just my two cents!!!

Is this valentines gift too expensive?

James D

I've been dating my current girlfriend for around 6 months. Valentines day is monday and I was thinking about getting her this. http://www.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=65686&cm_mmc=Shoplocal-_-catalogs-_-n-_-nadref=SLbuy

Do you guys think that is too expensive?

Answer
Yeah I guess so.. I mean it's only 6 months. Sometimes giving a girl something too expensive will give her a wrong impression. Even if she loves it, it's either she realizes how much you love her or she PROBABLY is materialistic.

debenhams gift card question?

lalatata

i just bought something off debenhams online site, i had the exact amount of money needed on the card and went to the checkout to pay for the items it said to put my debit card details in and next to them i put in my gift card pin, however it was never confirmed that the money from my gift card has been used and the confirmation e-mail i got immediately after didn't say anything about the gift card being used, i also checked the gift card balance online and it is still the same, is this what usually happens or have i done something wrong ?
thank you

Answer
Well thats how it is when you use debit cards or credit cards. The charge isn't immediately charge. Usually there are checks to be made then charged. Or some may wait until they can confirm its going to be shipped/available before charging the card.

So just wait awhile. I my self had to wait about a whole night for them to charge my debit card on a 120$ purchase.

debenhams gift card problem?

lalatata

i recently bought some items on debenhams online and wanted to pay with my gift card the price of the items all together was the exact amount i had on my giftcard, so i went onto the check out page and keyed in my debit card details as it was compulsory and then i put in my gift card pin (the number on the back) and confirmed it, 2 days later i checked my bank account balance and the money has been taken out and i checked my giftcard balance and it is still the same as it was before i bought the items, does anyone know what i've done wrong and how i go about correcting this mistake and getting the money back into my bank account and off of my giftcard , thank you

Answer
Why did you enter your debit card details?

In the card details box when paying you enter the long number on the back of the giftcard.....and then your giftcard pin.

you'll need to send/take the item(s) back for a refund when you get them and repurchase using the giftcard.

rubyredcow

My boyfriend has had my v-day gift 4 like almost 3 WEEKS! I got his like 1 or 2 weeks ago! If he knew what to get me already is mine as good? He loves playing his Guitar! So I got him a pack of picks and sweet little card..... So tell me Did I pick out the right v-day gift?

Answer
I think you have done well with his gift. At least it is something he will use and enjoy.
Also it doesn't matter if his is better or more expensive than yours it's the thought that counts.
Wow you are both so organised my husband just got back from shopping for me and is now frantically wrapping my gift.
Just enjoy the day and have fun together. ;-)

My bf is getting a surprise V day gift?

? ?

I inadvertly discovered my bf is getting me a new cellphone.. nokia c6 for valentines day. Thing is I had no plans for us to exchange gifts. I know he wouldnt want me to get him something big. But he is so hard to shop for.. not watches.. not clothes..I bought him a beer kit one time.. he liked that..but he doesnt have a lot of interests. Food and beer/whisky is the only thing i can think of .. and thats certainly not much of an idea.

Birthday gift for a friend..?

dan!elle

My best friend is turning 16 on the 4th of July. Could anyone give me some sweet gift ideas. I am going to hit the mall in a week, so I could get something from there..but I'm really not too great at coming up with ideas..
Ooops sorry, yeah she's a girl

Answer
Well.. 1st off, is your friend a boy or a girl.. because both sexes have different prefences on gifts :p

Boy:

if he has a car- maby a Satellite Radio-their not as expensive as you think, usualy around 30$ and he would love it.

if no car then it all depends on his interests. when you posted this question you should of included what sex the person was, and what interestest they have, it would make things alot easier for people answering your question.

Same with if its a girl, sorry i couldnt help, if i knew more about them i would be able to suggest better.=/

Best wishes. hope this helped!

How much is the acceptable price range of wedding gifts in Canada?

RO

Answer
I generally give a gift worth between $35 and $75 (normally about $50). The most expensive gift I bought was a bbq, but that was for a very good friend and it was a one-time thing. I would think that unless you're a very close friend or family, I would buy a gift worth around $35-$50.

Gifts for mothers?

tammyj_197

His father is a G'man, his step-father is a reader, as is my step father. We've purchased rather expensive ifts for everyone in our wedding party. Our mothers, however, are not active participants, other than the regular "mom" duties. We're thinking of giving eachother's mother a lockett, along with a hand written letter thanking them for raising the person that we love. Does this sound corny?

*Also, he has a step-mother, she's sort of a recent addition to the family, and he really has no relationship with her, good or bad. I've ordered her a mother's corsage, but would it be wrong NOT to give her a gift too?

Answer
Mother, mother-in-law, stepmother. . .if they're a part of the "family". . .they're part of the family; whether we like them or not. Giving her a "gift", that appears genuine and sincere, could only be a GOOD thing. If there were no feelings whatsoever before. . .good or bad. . .it could ONLY help to "build" a good rapport!

So. . .yes. . .it WOULD be wrong NOT to give her a gift, too. She may be the MOST wonderful person in the world! Until she demonstrates differently, I think we always owe anyone new "the benefit of the doubt". I dare say. . .you would want that, too!

Remember. . .gift cards and day spas are always welcomed gifts. And the ratio of returns is. . .0%.

I think your gesture with the "mother's corsage" was nice, too; but she would still warrant a "gift" of . . . SOME kind!

Mothers day gift ideas???10 points plz???

BLAH BLAH

i was looking for a good diamond pair of earrings or necklace for my mom and she as been wanting something for years, she's like next week is mother's day and we never came around close to buying her anything.
so where can i buy nice priced cute diamond jewelery.
WHAT ARE BETTER GIFTS?PERFUME?WATCHES?
give me your opinions and where to buy those things

HOW ABOUT MACYS AND STUFF??

Answer
http://www.gifts.com/ideas/mothers-day
great ideas trust me I'm taking ideas from this website 'cause I don't know what to get my mom either don't worry this site will help you.
but for most of us our mom is the most special woman in our lives. So why, when it comes to Mother's Day, do we grab a bouquet of flowers or box of chocolates, telling ourselves that next year we'll do better?
Here's some more tips
It depends what mom u have so:
Traditional Mom
For Moms who appreciate conventional things one of these is sure to win:
• Floral -- If your Mom really does love plant life why not try a small tree? If she lives in an apartment, try a Bonsai tree, but if you feel you can only say it with a standard bouquet, find out what flower is significant to her (for example her birth month flower) to make it really special.

Mile-a-minute Mom
Many Moms are so busy thinking of everyone else that they forget about pampering themselves:
• Breakfast in bed -- An oldie but a goldie. It's easy, inexpensive and sure to put a smile on any woman's face.
• Spa treatment -- Check with local spas for Mother's Day specials you can both indulge in.
• Surprise Mom with a night out: the theatre, movies, something you would enjoy together.

Fly by the seat of her pants Mom
Not every woman loses her zest for adventure when she becomes a Mom, so if yours enjoys a thrill:
• Adrenaline junkie moms will revel in a day of extreme sports; why not try Scuba diving, rock climbing or if that's too much for you how about kayaking or a hot air balloon ride.

Practical makes perfect Mom
Some Moms don't have a frivolous bone in their body, so why not:
• Find out her hobbies and enroll you both in a night class -- if that's too time consuming get her some good books on the subject.
• How about a hands free cell phone set or spill-proof travel mug to make her life easier.

Easy to please Mom
These Moms always get neglected so it's important to go that extra mile to make them feel extra-special:
• The gift of time -- What this Mom adores most is being with you, so take the time to plan a special day for you both: shopping, a picnic in the park, a rambling walk. Think of your Mom's favourite things and share them together -- she'll be delighted with your consideration.

Final tips:
Put thought into it -- an old cliché but true. Pay attention to conversations you have with your Mom and sound her out for ideas -- you'll be amazed at the ideas you'll come up with. At the end of the day you don't have to blow your budget, you just have to make her feel special...Good luck!

funny gifts? joke gifts?

samcheer

So my bestfriends birthday is coming up and i am throwing a surprise party for her with a few close friends. We want to make it seem like we got her a whole bunch of stuff so a few of us are giving her money but all in ones so we can wrap each dollar individually. We were also thinking of buying a pair of granny panties and giving her those. Any ideas kinda stupid and funny like that would be great? :)

Answer
I had a party where we gave a friend some granny panties before. And next year at my party they bought me some lol So thats always a funny gift. Gag gifts are funny especially when you put the most random things in there nobody would think of gifting. Just have fun with it !

"Special B-Day Gift!" (Joke)?

Q. This old man was turning 70, so his family wanted to give him a really special b-day present. So, come to his birthday, the doorbell rings. The old man answers it, and there is a strippper. The strippper says, "Hi. :) I'm here to give you super sex!".. The old man says, "I'll take soup."

Funny?
... "Super Sex" = Soup or Sex.

Answer

21 gift ideas for a 21st birthday?

jennsch_20

I am putting together a basket for a friend who is turning 21 this weekend... Inside will be a guide to turning 21 and what someone will need to survive. I have a few items already but I am drawing a blank... any suggestions?

What I have already:
Advil (because hangovers can be tough)
Mints (to freshen up before a kiss)
Sash & Crown (so everyone knows it's your 21st)
Ballet flats (they'll be your best friend after partying in heels all night)
and a few more... help please? :)

Answer
I'd say those Colgate Wisp on-the-go toothbrushes, but you've got mints already, but hey, if you want both! :)

-A bottle of beer (because, you know, it's not every day you can first start drinking legally).

-This camera necklace: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=acc_necklace&product_id=1079482715&Page=all&pgcount=16 ('Cause this is a moment to remember, but it's from, ahem, Forever 21. Plus, it's cheap. Personally I really love this, though: http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog_name=FOREVER21&category_name=acc_necklace&product_id=1075705982&Page=all&pgcount=16)

- Two number candles: a 2 and a 1 (for 21! For her to burn when harsh bright light bulbs hurt her eyes during a hangover)

-A bucket (for her to throw-up in. XD XD XD Plus, you could put all or many of the gifts in it.)

-A pre-paid cellphone (so she can still give out phone numbers to guys and contact them if she decides to go out with them, but if she decides not to, she won't be swamped with unwanted calls)

-A box of herbal tea (obviously, just the herbs are inside. For those hangovers)

-A pregnancy test (you know how those parties are! It's just a joke, anyway. Hope she won't have to use it any time soon)

-A box of condoms (just in case he forgets his)

-Honey (I heard it helps with hangovers too)

-Shot glass!

-Foot balm (for after long night/s of partying. See Badger as an example, maybe: http://www.badgerbalm.com/pc-392-2-foot-balm.aspx)

-Pepper spray (in case the guy she's cornered by or goes home with is a jerk or worse, don't want to think the alternative)

-Chap stick (to keep those lips nice and moist)

-A photo from years before (to remember the good ol' days when you guys were so innocent)

-Pancake mix (because their delicious after a long night of hard partying)

-A hug! :D

Good/creative gifts for a 50th Birthday?

Trevor B

I need a VERY last minute gift for a 50th birthday party tonight. Anyone have any good ideas that I could pull together fast?

Answer
Buy here something online where you get to print off a voucher of gift card and some product information that you can format up nicely and hand to her. Things like an Amazon gift card on an experience day - something where the actual gift has to come later because you are letting her choose which book/music/experience she wants.

Is a Dr. Weil professional juicer an appropriate gift for a 9th wedding anniversary?

guyger1

I'm thinking of getting juicer for my wife for our 9th anniversary. we're trying to be more healthy and i thought this would be something the whole family could enjoy and see benefits from.

Answer
My personal belief is that stuff for the house should be bought regardless and should not be given as a gift, unless it is something unnecessary and she has specifically asked for it. I think that personal occasions should have a personal gift given. I am someone who will never ask for something personal and will be more practical and ask for an appliance for a gift just because I feel bad asking him to spend money on me, but he loves me enough to do it anyway. Even if someone is practical, they would enjoy something personal better, and you should buy the juicer anyway because, as you said, the family can enjoy it.

Get her something that SHE can enjoy, not the family.
