websites for easy to make christmas gifts?

Lisa C

I am on maternity leave this Christmas and I do not have alot of moey to spend on christmas gifts this year. Can anyone give me any ideas or web sites where I can make cheap christmas presents?

Answer
Maybe you can bake some holiday treats and add a cute story or poem. I wish I knew who you needed to give gifts to. Also, check out www.homemakingcottage.com for more ideas. Here is one thing I looked up and found on the site....
Fresh baked bread, rolls, breadsticks, or cookies. (Send your recipe along with it.)

Free or cheap gift ideas...

Share your favorite thought or scripture. Write it on a nice paper and attach a magnet on the back.

Stationary and stamps always make a nice gift, especially for someone leaving on a mission or going away to college.

Stencil on an apron, dish towel, pot holder, pillowcase or t-shirt.

Balloon bouquets, Birthday banners made on the computer.

Fresh fruits, vegetables, or flowers from your garden. Since this is so late in the year I would suggest canned items that were from your garden. You can decorate the top with a square of Christmas fabric and tie with twine.

A basket of small sample items. (Shampoo & Conditioner, lotion, bubble bath, soap, etc.)

Coupon for free babysitting, window washing, ironing, etc.

Take dinner to a friend in a picnic basket with paper plates, paper cups, napkins, and plastic utensils.

A bottle of 7-up or root beer ties with balloons and ribbon decorated for the Christmas season.

Give items to go with a favorite hobby. (film & batteries for a photographer, etc.)

List all of the reasons you are thankful for someone and why you love them. Fill a jar with candy pieces and the notes you wrote for them.

Mirror with a note. "Everyone enjoys the goodness you reflect."

Tape record some of your children's stories. Present the tape with the books so they can read along.

Have a "Souper" day! Give a can of soup and box of crackers.

Here is a gift basket idea.
Movie basket
Includes: Gift certificates to video store, microwave flavored popcorn, peanuts, and pop.

Is my child Gifted?

bec b

hi... i think my 1 and a half yr old is showing signs of being gifted... she already says her abc's and can count and says full sentences that i havnt seen a 1 yr old say before... can u tell me if she is gifted or not? and if there is anything in MELBOURNE that i can take her to to help her grow?

Answer
It's wonderful that your child is doing these things - it shows that you are paying a lot of attention to her and encouraging her.

I'd not be so quick to work on the "gifted" aspect of the child. I approached my pedi with similar questions when my first child was about that age - but it seemed to be in an artistic sense. What she told me was something that I've since found to be absolutely true:

Your child will not "forget" how to learn if you don't push the learning right now. However, the first three years of a child's life are where they learn their creativity. Focusing too much on the gifted aspect at this time of their life can cripple them in other ways.

Keep teaching her things - keep talking to her. It's likely you have a child who will grow up quite gifted at least in languages and other similar aptitudes. But make sure that she's getting a lot of creative outlets, too. Encourage the make-believe play, coloring, dress-up, imaginary friends, tea parties - so many gifted children are denied the ability to be *children* by parents who focus on their *gifts.*

Do your little one the biggest favor in the world and let her *play* while she's young! Once she gets in pre-school/kindergarten, she'll have years and years ahead of her to enhance her intelligence. She won't get stupid if you don't push her now. Let her be little and grow at the pace *she* wants to grow at!

Good luck.

survival kit gifts!?

stupid_fru

I was thinking of doing some survival kits for some friends and family. fun ones, you know? there ages are from 17 to 25 (most of them), and all of their interests range from music, tech geeks, food, movies, anything, and everything. if you have any ideas for any survival kit, or how to set them up or anything would be really awesome. Creativity is good! (even if you think it's corny!) thanks!

Answer
I would suggest that you make them using a gift basket.
My Idea of a survival gift for Christmas would be something to get you thru the the stress of buying and wrapping, avoiding family that you dont get along with, food that does not taste well, running out of name tags and tape right when the stores close, colds and sore throats just when its time for santa, etc.
So with that being said I would suggest buying coffee mugs and packaging them with an individual pack of Hot chocolate and a single candy cane.
For the Females add candles and body products that have anything to do with aromatherapy or relaxing on the bottle.
You could add a Gingerbread house kit that would get them thru the silence and dull moments during the holidays.
Burn them personalized CD's that would increase the spirit of the holidays, and keep them jolly (It does not have to be x-mas music).
You could buy a DVD for the movie lovers.
Add A blanket, scarf, mittens, ear muffs, etc.
Get a large popcorn bowl and a pack of seperate small bowls.add different varitites of popcorn (cheddar, butter, caramel, etc.) Boxes of Candies, Milk Duds, Peppermints, Gummy bears, Chocolate Santas, Cherry coridals (chocolate covered cherries). Home baked cookies for comfort (something involving chocolate).

Here is a one I just found online :
M&M Survival kit
One Bag of Of colored M&M's
Print this out and attatch it to the bag or gift.
At the first sign of hot flashes - eat the red ones.
Eat the orange ones to minimize depression.
The green ones calm your frustrations.
Eat the yellow ones if it is gloomy outside.
If you feel a headache coming on, eat the purple ones.
The blue ones reduce bloating.
You can eat the brown ones anytime!
If all the symptoms appear at the same time,
YOU CAN EAT THE WHOLE BAG!

Apple Cider packets, for instant coziness.
A spray can on snow (to gurantee a white christmas)

Purchase a small gift bag and fill with the items below, along with a label explaining each token.

Guardian Angel Survival Kit

Toothpick - Pick out the good qualities in everyone, including yourself.
Bandaid - To heal hurt feelings.
Gum - Think before you "Chew" others out.
Smiley Face - Because smiling is contagious
Guardian Angel - Because everyone needs one.
Pencil - To write down your days blessings.
Eraser - To remind you always start each day with a clean slate.
Sticky Tape - To tape your lips when you have nothing good to say.
Star - To reflect what you can be.
Sand paper - To smooth out the rough edges.
Glitter - To make things sparkle.
Velcro dot - Help you get a grip on things.
Rubber Band - To stretch you beyond your limits.
Paper clip - To keep things together.
Candle - To light up your path.

Need a good Birthday Gift for 33 Yr old Boyfriend?

My boyfriend and i have been dating for about a month and a half, his birthday is on August 19th. I need some good, creative gift ideas. He likes to geocache, hike, camp, boat, computers (hes an IT guy)....that kind of stuff. I have a few ideas but i just wanted to see if anyone could come up with something I hadn't thought of - power in numbers, right? :-)
My ideas are a weekend cabin trip to a state park or in wine country, new hiking shoes (the NB 920 water shoe), geocoins or a blue-ray drive for his computer. I'm leaning toward the weekend getaway but need ideas....anyone know of a really beautiful area in WNY? I'd love to be able to get a cabin or site for the camper and rent a boat.

Should I register for wedding gifts at Dillard's or Macy's?

Megan

I'm getting married next year and plan on registering at a local gift shop and I can't decide on either Dillard's or Macy's for my higher-end retailer. Any other registry tips are also welcome.

Answer
Macy's is more high end than Dillard's, and its what I prefer for things like that. Plus, I think Macy's has more of a selection.

You can register online at www.myregistry.com. You register with them and then you can register for absolutely anything that exists on the internet. You don't have to pick just one or two stores.

Could a Macy's gift card be used to buy Coach products?

lakers_luv

Answer
Yes, you can use a Macy's gift card to purchase Coach products. An EGC card can be used to purchase anything at a Macy's store (not it's sister store Bloomingdale's), including another EGC in a smaller amount or food if there happens to be a food court area like the SF Flagship stores.

All May Co. stores have been converted to Macy's.

Gifts for mothers?

tammyj_197

His father is a G'man, his step-father is a reader, as is my step father. We've purchased rather expensive ifts for everyone in our wedding party. Our mothers, however, are not active participants, other than the regular "mom" duties. We're thinking of giving eachother's mother a lockett, along with a hand written letter thanking them for raising the person that we love. Does this sound corny?

*Also, he has a step-mother, she's sort of a recent addition to the family, and he really has no relationship with her, good or bad. I've ordered her a mother's corsage, but would it be wrong NOT to give her a gift too?

Answer
Mother, mother-in-law, stepmother. . .if they're a part of the "family". . .they're part of the family; whether we like them or not. Giving her a "gift", that appears genuine and sincere, could only be a GOOD thing. If there were no feelings whatsoever before. . .good or bad. . .it could ONLY help to "build" a good rapport!

So. . .yes. . .it WOULD be wrong NOT to give her a gift, too. She may be the MOST wonderful person in the world! Until she demonstrates differently, I think we always owe anyone new "the benefit of the doubt". I dare say. . .you would want that, too!

Remember. . .gift cards and day spas are always welcomed gifts. And the ratio of returns is. . .0%.

I think your gesture with the "mother's corsage" was nice, too; but she would still warrant a "gift" of . . . SOME kind!

Mothers day gift ideas???10 points plz???

BLAH BLAH

i was looking for a good diamond pair of earrings or necklace for my mom and she as been wanting something for years, she's like next week is mother's day and we never came around close to buying her anything.
so where can i buy nice priced cute diamond jewelery.
WHAT ARE BETTER GIFTS?PERFUME?WATCHES?
give me your opinions and where to buy those things

HOW ABOUT MACYS AND STUFF??

Answer
http://www.gifts.com/ideas/mothers-day
great ideas trust me I'm taking ideas from this website 'cause I don't know what to get my mom either don't worry this site will help you.
but for most of us our mom is the most special woman in our lives. So why, when it comes to Mother's Day, do we grab a bouquet of flowers or box of chocolates, telling ourselves that next year we'll do better?
Here's some more tips
It depends what mom u have so:
Traditional Mom
For Moms who appreciate conventional things one of these is sure to win:
⢠Floral -- If your Mom really does love plant life why not try a small tree? If she lives in an apartment, try a Bonsai tree, but if you feel you can only say it with a standard bouquet, find out what flower is significant to her (for example her birth month flower) to make it really special.

Mile-a-minute Mom
Many Moms are so busy thinking of everyone else that they forget about pampering themselves:
⢠Breakfast in bed -- An oldie but a goldie. It's easy, inexpensive and sure to put a smile on any woman's face.
⢠Spa treatment -- Check with local spas for Mother's Day specials you can both indulge in.
⢠Surprise Mom with a night out: the theatre, movies, something you would enjoy together.

Fly by the seat of her pants Mom
Not every woman loses her zest for adventure when she becomes a Mom, so if yours enjoys a thrill:
⢠Adrenaline junkie moms will revel in a day of extreme sports; why not try Scuba diving, rock climbing or if that's too much for you how about kayaking or a hot air balloon ride.

Practical makes perfect Mom
Some Moms don't have a frivolous bone in their body, so why not:
⢠Find out her hobbies and enroll you both in a night class -- if that's too time consuming get her some good books on the subject.
⢠How about a hands free cell phone set or spill-proof travel mug to make her life easier.

Easy to please Mom
These Moms always get neglected so it's important to go that extra mile to make them feel extra-special:
⢠The gift of time -- What this Mom adores most is being with you, so take the time to plan a special day for you both: shopping, a picnic in the park, a rambling walk. Think of your Mom's favourite things and share them together -- she'll be delighted with your consideration.

Final tips:
Put thought into it -- an old cliché but true. Pay attention to conversations you have with your Mom and sound her out for ideas -- you'll be amazed at the ideas you'll come up with. At the end of the day you don't have to blow your budget, you just have to make her feel special...Good luck!
