Are there any high schools in or near Los Angeles, Ca that are for highly gifted students?

Answer
There are private schools in the LA area are far more rigorous than the most rigorous public schools, no matter the program. The most rigorous would be Flintridge Prep, Poly Pasadena, and Harvard-Westlake. Many of the students at these schools are highly gifted (also some EG and PG), but also with great social skills.

Often public school gifted programs aren't true gifted programs anymore (they used to be back in the stone age when I went to LAUSD), now they're GATE - gifted and talented education.
Here is the GATE website: http://www.lausd.net/lausd/offices/GATE/

When my son was in 8th grade, his math teacher suggested he might like to attend Cal State LA's Early Entrance Program, but my son preferred to stay in private school, enjoy the high school experience, and go on to college when it's time. While the EEP program isn't as tough as some local private schools, it's a good option for those that don't want to/can't pay for private school, and would be happy with Cal State LA as their undergrad college. There is a high school environment for the program, it's not like they're just enrolled in college. it's kind of a community in the Cal State LA community. The cost is $3500 - $5000 per year, depending on 3 or 4 quarters per year. One can take the ACT or SAT for admissions, but the required score is quite low, at least 550 each on the math and verbal (1100 total minimum), ACT required score is similarly low, it should be on their website.

Good luck!
