B-day gift for deployed female in Iraq?

Knight squ

My wife is on her 12th deployment in seven years, most of which she has been gone on her b-day. I've run out of original ideas, so ladies, please tell me the best b-day gifts you received while you were deployed in the desert?

Answer
I have never been deployed but I hope I can still help you here.
-what about a photo album but not just a regular one. Decorate it. If you have kids let them decorate some of the pages. Put in pictures of every day things not the big events. Take a picture of the children sleeping or eating or pictures of her other family members. Take pictures of things that she really enjoys doing. Does she like reading, take pictures of her favorite books or if she likes to garden, take pictures of gardens or put pictures in there of places that she would like to go.
-Include letters from everyone in her family and from you on why you love her, why she is special to you and to her family, etc.,. Put these all together or put them in the photo album.
-Since it seems like you guys have been together for awhile so you can include pictures through the years. Pick a few pictures from each year that you have been together and put those in the photo album. Or put these pictures together with music such as something with one true media: http://www.onetruemedia.com/

I always try to go with some personal things for hubby when he deploys and I send him some photo albums when he is gone and he tells me that these are his most favorite gifts when I send them,

I am also involved with a group of ladies that send cards to deployed soldiers so if you think your wife would like some "happy birthday" cards from people wishing her well, let me know.

soldier christmas gift?

Rachel

My husband is currently army stationed in Germany and he is coming home for Christmas on leave for a few weeks. This will be our first christmas together as a married couple and he will be leaving for Afghanistan in a few months after. This will be his first deployment. I know soldiers can't take much with them when they deploy so I'm really wondering on what I should get him. If you guys could give me any suggestions on what could be useful to bring to deployment or any other gifts a soldier would like it would help a lot :)
thx for the advice!

Answer
Don't get him a gift based on his deployment, get him whatever you would get him for Christmas on a normal holiday. He will be coming back from his deployment, if he can't take it with him he can use it when he gets back. I'm pretty sure he is going to want to enjoy the holiday, and not worry about Afghanistan on Christmas.

He can take anything to Germany. The only restriction will be the airline.

If you're REALLY that worried about it, buy some lingerie, take him to a nice hotel with a hot tub for the weekend. Get a couple's massage at a spa. Give him memories to take with him (and don't mention deployment while you're at the hotel, that's a sure fire way to stress him out).
