Is Kohl's comparable to Wal-Mart or Target?

Q. We don't have a Kohl's in my area. I have a chance to get some gift cards and Kohls is one of the stores. I'm planning on using the cards for Christmas gifts and was wanting some variety/affordable gifts that I can shop (online with gift cards) for several different family members. Are there different departments in Kohls like movies, electronics, clothing, games, etc...? Thanks!
I tried looking online but their site is down, that's why I'm asking on here. :)

Answer
From a customer's stand point Kohl's really isn't anything like WalMart or Target. Kohl's focuses on the retailing of clothing and small house electronics. WalMart and Target focus on selling everything, Clothes are just one segment of what they sell. Kohl's makes clothing their mainstay.

While they don't sell high-end designer clothes like Macy's does, they do sell knock-off brands from designer companies. (e.g. Axxcess line of clothing is actually from Liz Claiborne, Polo is Ralph Lauren)

Kohl's is more similiar to Sears or Mervyn's or JcPenney.

Kohl's also sells linens, shoes, greeting cards, home fashions, blenders, irons, toaster ovens, cheap jewelry, mediocre wrist watches, perfume etc.

I like Kohl's. :) I would much rather shop at Kohl's than Mervyns. A big plus is that their stuff is reasonably priced and they always have coupons and sales.

I purchased a kohl's gift card on Craigslist since the seller know the number, can I exchange it with another?

Answer
depends on kohl's policy but you should be able to buy a gift card with a gift card. Also you need to be careful because the person you bought it from could use it for an online purchase.
