I guess it's ok, like giving your friends gifts for the end of the year going into high school. If you're talking about parents giving gifts to their kids, it would be ok. There really isn't a right or wrong answer, it's just whatever you want to do.

You can go to Things Remembered and have some thing engraved that have to do with the two of you, friendship poems, shirts, etc. Hallmark has a lot of things for the graduate too.
