Q. My cousin brother is getting married in September. I am planning of presenting him a useful and different gift? The one that came in to my mind is ‘wine’. I think it will be a variety gift to offer. But I am confused about which wine to buy.
Can anyone give me suggestion?

Answer
Wine does make a good wine for wine lovers. Other possibilities that will last longer and be appreciated by wine drinkers are: nice stemware, a nice wine opener, wine decanter, or wine refrigerator. For specific suggestions go to http://www.cheers2wine.com/gifts-for-wine-lovers.html

Whats a good bottle of wine as a gift?
John
My friend took me out for my 21st and I didn't expect him to pay for everything but he did. So I am looking to repay him by buying him something to drink the next time I go over.
He says get wine because his girlfriend loves wine (and he'll do what ever makes her happy).
So whats a good bottle of wine that I can grab under $100? Quality stuff.. I really don't know anything about wine, I'm a hard liquor with no chaser type of guy.

Socrates is more up on his wines. From what I know, he's right on for rating and prices. I only spent a $100 for a Dom Perignon Champagne. I think it was up toward 99 on the rating, but when I drank it, it pretty much tasted like other champagnes I've had and they're not at the top of my simpler tastes.
My two favorites are Home Sutter's Moscato (another agreement with Socrates), and Wild Vines Blackberry Merlot; they're both on the lighter, fruit side. A little drier would be St. Michele's Gewürztraminer. In the same ballpark of sweet, an Asian plum wine and the Vermillion sweets are good and a little stronger.
Pinot grigio, Riesling, & Chardonnay have a drier, more acid taste, paired with the right foods and palette, they are enjoyed. Where a Moscato is easily drank by itself.
The reds have tannins that make them tart, a little bitter; roses are a blend of white & red, a white aged in oak will also have tannins. Tannins can cause headaches, maybe that's why some women avoid them, then it's good for the guys too.
Anything with Ice in the title is a dessert wine; they're the sweetest because they wait until the Fall when the sugars are the highest.
Wine people love to sample and try different kinds of wines, so if want to, take a couple, three for a fun time.
