Looking for gifts to give to people celebrating Yom Kippur, Rosh Hoshanah, etc

First of all - Yom Kippur is not a "happy" holiday. It will be weird if you give Jewish people presents on that day (even insulting!).
Second, (as for Rosh Hashana) you can go for the simple things that you can find anywhere - this specific holiday is all about the beginning of a new year- so the kind of things you will buy for a person who moved into a new house will be just right.
Another nice options is a package of wine and chocolates (though if your friends are pretty religious- look for "Kosher" mark on the products, a big "K" and the name of rabbinate who gave it).
Also, I'n never been to Toronto- but it seems to be "Jewish areas" that might help you make the choice ( holiday shopping on stores there)- see link below.
