well when i bought my first ebay gift card, i thought it meant i could just use that but i was wrong. you need to use either your credit card or checking account to start a paypal account. once that's done, you'll need to make en ebay account and link your paypal to it. once that's done, you buy the item of your choosing (make sure the seller accepts paypal!)
then when you go to pay for it, there'll be an area for redeeming codes. put in the ebay gift card number and the amount will be deducted for your payment. the remainder (if there is any) on the gift card can be saved for another transaction and will be stored online at your paypal account. hope this helps!
